The DPP4EU Conference is organized in honor of Professor Heinz Preisig.
Professor Heinz Preisig is a systems engineer and researcher active in the field of digital engineering, data-driven industrial systems, and semantic interoperability for complex value chains. Satellite Meeting Battery Passport
The themes of the conference, in particular life cycle analysis and the digital materials and product passport, will be discussed for advanced materials in batteries and the relation between the data and metadata documentation required for these materials and the DPP for batteries as specified in the Batteries Regulation. This session is organized by the HEur projects BatCAT (HEur GA no. 101137725), FULL-MAP (GA no. 101192848), SAFELOOP (GA no. 101147342), and SALAMANDER (GA no. 101104028); these projects are related to Battery2030+ CSA3 (GA no. 101104022), the BATT4EU partnership, and the Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA). The projects related technical challenges and general aspects of battery passport, LCA available data and advanced battery materials investigation will be discussed at this meeting. Contributions from the EU- and National- funded projects working on battery passport and novel materials for battery are very welcome. A summary of the session will be published as a white paper.

As part of the conference, the CE-RISE project will host a DigiPass Satellite Event dedicated to its initiatives in advancing the circular economy for electronics through Digital Product Passports (DPPs). The event will highlight CE-RISE’s work on building a Resource Information System that unifies product data with circularity, socio-economic, and environmental impact metrics, enabling secure and role-appropriate data sharing across value chains. Participants will gain insights into CE-RISE’s methodologies for evaluating reuse, repair, refurbishment, and recycling criteria, and explore open-access tools supporting sustainable, circular product strategies. This satellite session offers a platform to showcase how CE-RISE translates DPP concepts into practical circular business models, fostering collaboration between researchers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers.

EUMINE Satellite Meeting: Materials informatics for digital product passports: building a community for AI-driven and interoperable materials data
This satellite meeting will focus on the role of materials informatics as a key enabler for Digital Product Passports (DPPs) in the context of sustainability and circularity. The emphasis will be on AI-driven methods, automated workflows, and interoperable data infrastructures for generating, integrating, and managing materials information across product lifecycles. The meeting will address how heterogeneous materials data, from simulations and experiments to manufacturing and performance data, can be structured, connected, and made machine-actionable to support DPP implementations. Particular attention will be given to FAIR-by-design approaches, AI-assisted data integration, and community-aligned practices emerging from publicly funded collaborative projects. Building on the experience and perspectives developed within the COST Action “European Materials Informatics Network” (EuMINe), the satellite meeting aims to highlight shared challenges, technical approaches, and opportunities for aligning materials informatics efforts with evolving DPP frameworks.

The discussion will cover the objectives and scope of the ESPR, explain why DPPs are becoming a cornerstone for sustainability, and outline their essential elements—such as lifecycle data and environmental impact information. Moreover, the item on how DPPs can enhance stakeholders relations and build trust through information transparency will be considered in this session.

Digital Product Passport (DPP) System and Framework
The CEN-CLC Joint Technical Committee 24 (JTC 24) plays a central role in developing the European framework for the Digital Product Passport (DPP). This session, led by the JTC 24 chairs, will provide a structured overview of the emerging standards and system architecture that underpin the DPP and enable its practical implementation across sectors. The session will begin with an introduction to the new set of standards (Modules 1–8) and the system architecture, establishing the foundation for subsequent contributions and dialogue. Building on this framework, the session will feature selected contributions from the DPP4EU initiative. JTC 24 will describe relevant topics for their session to be used in the general call for papers to the conference. The final part of the session will be dedicated to discussion and active contributions from participants. This interactive segment will allow stakeholders to exchange perspectives, raise questions, and provide feedback, ensuring that the session not only informs but also supports engagement and dialogue around the future of the DPP.

Digital Infrastructure/Materials Commons
The Materials Commons concept defines a Digital Infrastructures which supports a fast track from lab to fab while taking into account overarching European policy goals, like the twin green&digital transition. The Materials Commons Infrastructure shall serve an innovation ecosystem connecting materials innovators and manufacturers. This session explores how a digitalized materials innovation eccosystem implemented on the Materials Commons Infrastructure may interact with a Production related DPP infrastructure to allow for a semaless transition of the digitalization of materials innovation over product innovation or produces equipped with a DPP. To this end, connections of R&I data spaces with sectorial and national/regional regulation are necessary. The goal of this session is to assess the state of the art, identify gaps in existing and emerging digital infrastructures, and proposing how to close these gaps in terms of requests for new infrastructure and/or for new governance models connecting Materials Commons with the DPP infrastructure.

As the DPP becomes a key enabler for transparency, circularity, and data-driven sustainability across value chains, new opportunities for value creation and collaboration are emerging. The session brings together researchers, technology developers, and industry practitioners to discuss how insights from ongoing DPP research projects can be transferred into practical solutions and services. It will explore business opportunities arising from DPP-enabled data, such as digital platforms, material tracking systems, and lifecycle analytics, as well as the challenges of interoperability, data governance, and stakeholder alignment. Through presentations and discussions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how digital product passports can catalyze new business ecosystems, support circular business models, and drive the commercial valorisation of research outputs. The session aims to inspire cross-sector collaboration and identify pathways for moving from innovation concepts to market-ready implementations.
